VANS SET THE STANDARD
Written by: Parker Hargens
Being engulfed in the streetwear/sneakerhead lifestyle, y'all know how it gets watching brands over time.
Some get really popular, make their mark, then disappear into the laundry basket or back of the closet.
Vans is different.
Countless times, they have continued to make a name for themselves, and lately, they’re back to create a wave again with these worn-in styles. You're already familiar with the basic models: Old Skool, Sk8-Hi, and Authentic.
The difference these days is that the worn-in look seems deliberately achieved, adding a touch of edge to your everyday NEW pair of kicks. Soft fades brush up on the canvas, washed suedes, and a slightly broken-in finish give the shoe the feeling of having already led a somewhat lived-in life without having been damaged.
Fitting right in with today’s streetwear, vintage is still king when it comes to clothes and shoes, and Vans gets it right without doing too much. They don’t go overboard with the distressing or try too hard to fake a vintage look.
The comfort is still there, the construction is still solid, but the overall feel is more lived-in and current. It’s giving quiet confidence instead of loud hype, and fans are clearly rocking with the comfort, quality, and understated approach.
We’ve seen strong reactions to these styles both in stores and online. At the end of the day, Vans doesn’t have to reinvent the wheel to stay relevant. They know what works, they clean it up, and let the product speak for itself.
Sometimes that’s all you need.
