Nike released the first Air Max 1 on March 26th, 1987, making this a day for the brand to celebrate. As we all know, Air Maxes have since evolved, and have become a celebration of more than just the shoe design but a celebration of the love for sneaker culture. Part of the Air Max Celebration includes Nike’s commitment to the evolution of the silhouette and the air cushioning technology. Air Max DN
RELEASED: 2024
For this year’s celebration, Nike has launched the Air Max DN, which introduces Air technology that sneakerheads can step into for the first time ever. The DN is a new generation of bold cushioning and a reimagined platform built for the future of innovation. As you move, you will experience the signature Air Max bounce while strutting in 2024’s newest closet staple available in multiple colorways.
Air Max Plus DRIFT
RELEASED: 2024
Ready to kick it up a notch? Then the Air Max Plus is for you! This silhouette has taken everything that is cherished by sneakerheads in the sleek Air Max design and combined it with bold designs and futuristic detailing. The Air Max Plus debuted Tuned Air and was designed by Sean McDowell. When creating the Air Max Plus, McDowell was inspired by a Florida sunset and wanted the shoe to be as interesting as possible while staying performance-focused. The reflective detailing is perfect for runners while the design and various colorways make the shoe a classic lifestyle staple.
Air max 270
RELEASED: 2018
Another classic Nike silhouette is the Air Max 270, which sports the iconic Air Bubble and simple design. The 270 was inspired by the Air Max 93 and 180 silhouettes. AIR MAX 97
RELEASED: 1997
The 97 was the first model to feature a full-length Air Unit which brings maximum comfort to the Air Max. Taking inspiration from the 95, designer Christian Tesser, made a nod to the features of mountain bikes, as well as Japan’s high-speed bullet trains when creating the Silver Bullet Air Max 97. Tresser also revealed that the iconic wavy design was inspired by water ripples. Hitting markets in 1997, this shoe was made for running… or just everyday life. Whatever the activity, you will be sure to turn heads.
AIR MAX 95
RELEASED: 1995
The Air Max 95 speaks for itself, this shoe has the look and feel of a classic but debuted groundbreaking innovations in the sneaker game. This was the first model to feature visible Air in the forefoot, which brought a whole new level of comfort and cushioning to the Air Max. The designer behind the sneaker, Sergio Lozano, was inspired by human anatomy, as he created the midsole to represent a human spine, the panels to mimic muscles, the loopholes and straps to mirror ribs, and the mesh to imitate skin. Air Max 90
RELEASED: 1990
Designed by Tinker Hatfield in 1990, the Air Max 90 is a sneakerhead staple, a 30-year icon! This silhouette is one we truly believe will never go out of style. AIR MAX 1

This is the original Air Max, the one that started it all. Released in 1987, Tinker Hatfield was inspired by the design of the Centre Pompidou in Paris with its air ducts exposed on the building’s exterior, this was the catalyst to revealing the Air technology. Recently making waves again due to Nike bringing back the beloved “Big Bubble”, which features a larger air unit like the original release.
