It's safe to say that the Air Jordan 1 High is still the most coveted silhouette in all the sneaker kingdom (save for perhaps the Dunk). And, to keep up with the ever-increasing demand, Jordan Brand's head honchos have made consorted efforts to produce multiple colorways each month. So, if you struck out on the recently released “University Blue” Air Jordan 1, don't worry – there's another iteration on the way.
With models as long-standing and revered as the Air Jordan 1 High, it can be challenging to produce colorways that feel fresh, but this upcoming “Patina” design does just that. The upper is done in a luxe, tumbled black leather, which appears on the toeboxes, side panels, and ankle collars, while suede in a “Light Army” uniform invades the ankle-collar flaps and heel counters. Sounds pretty standard so far, right?
The figurative secret sauce that glazes this sneaker burger comes in the form of weathered, oil-slicked leather overlays – reminiscent of the “Wings” Air Jordan 1 High – which grace the mudguards, eyestays, and Swooshes. The upper is completed with black Wings-logo stamps on the lateral ankle-collar flaps and “Fresh Mint” Nike lettering on the tongues.
Scaling down the sneaker, you'll find rubber midsoles painted with a fresh coat of “Sail,” furthering the sneaker's vintage aesthetic. The unique design is capped off with standard, black rubber outsoles.
The Air Jordan 1 High “Patina” is scheduled to release March 25th on JimmyJazz.com for a retail price of $170.
