Air Jordan XI Retro “Cool Grey”

Air Jordan XI Retro “Cool Grey”

In the pantheon of all-time great Air Jordan 11 colorways, the “Cool Grey” palette ranks among the silhouette’s best, despite its non-OG status. First appearing on the feet of the G.O.A.T. during his Wizards days, the “Cool Grey” Air Jordan 11 was a neck-snapper that veered far away from the typical Bulls-themed trappings of yesteryear.

Since its initial launch in the early aughts, the “Cool Grey” 11 has been rereleased only once – that was back in 2010. To the chagrin of Jumpman purists, the offering bore updated, lower-cut patent leather mudguards, leaving fans yearning for a proper 1-to-1 rerelease of the greyscale sneaker. Rumors of the colorway’s long-awaited return have floated around the sneaker zeitgeist for years. And though they weren’t exactly accurate in terms of a date, they weren’t too far off.

The decidedly cool and grey Air Jordan 11 is slated to return to the fold this December, as part of Jordan Brand’s long standing tradition in which they release an 11 each holiday season. The forthcoming release does justice to the original, with genuine full-leather uppers, higher-cut patent leather mudguards, and a molded sockliner. Additionally, the 2021 version features the original Zoom Air cushioning, as well as carbon fiber shank plates, and icy, semi-translucent rubber outsoles. How’s that for cool?

Looking to get your hands on a pair? The Air Jordan 11 “Cool Grey” is scheduled to release December 11th on JimmyJazz.com in full-family sizing.
