Started by pridefully unattached university students in the '90s, this unofficial holiday has since become the single biggest shopping day of the year in China. Celebrations are simple – be a bachelor/bachelorette and consume in the name of self-care. Sounds pretty good, right?
Jordan Brand is no stranger to the annual event; in fact, they often partake in the festivities by offering conceptual sneakers for singles to enjoy. This year, they are slated to release a new, women's-exclusive colorway of the Air Jordan 6, appropriately dubbed “Singles' Day.”
The Air Jordan 6 “Singles' Day” is draped in an elegant, black jacquard-patterned upper, which features floral and basketball-inspired designs throughout. The texture is contrasted by black, nubuck overlays on both the lateral and medial sides.
Decorative Chinese knots are tied atop the tongue in a tasteful burgundy hue, symbolizing good fortune and prosperity. In China, sophisticated knotting such as this would oftentimes be adorned with a charm to further enhance the look, not to mention, the luck. Naturally, these knots come equipped with metallic gold Jumpman charms.
Moving down the sneaker, you'll find a familiar jacquard on the midsoles, which house Max Air units in the heels. It's completed by black rubber outsoles, with semi-translucent, blue rubber accents.
