How to Style The Air Jordan 6 “Hare”

How to Style The Air Jordan 6 “Hare”

Introducing Your Sneaker Style Guide:
The Jimmy Jazz Backstage Video Series

Jimmy Jazz Backstage is a glimpse behind the curtain. It's a video series that answers all your insider industry questions like: how do professional stylists make their decisions? Do these colors really look good together? Essentially, it's where two of our very own veteran fashion professionals join forces to help you nail down the perfect way to wear each and every pair of your favorite, freshly released sneakers.

The first rule? Style starts with your feet.

Meet Your Industry Experts:

This is Ramon (@ramoncitoeldelapipa), Sneaker Scholar and Product Writer

He's been getting paid to work with sneakers for over 12 years, now. His current job description? Find out everything there is to know about every relevant sneaker in the industry's entire history and stay up to date until the end of time, or until sneakers stop being made, whichever comes first. And all those lovely little descriptions of the sneakers and apparel you find on our website? He writes those, too.

He also runs a fairly famous Instagram food account, which you can find here: @ramoncitoeldelapipa. (As you can tell, great taste tends to transcend categories).

This is Deja, Fashion Designer and Stylist

She's a 21-year-old former model (LOFT, Baby Phat) and current brand/celebrity stylist (Tessa Thompson, Regina King, Mary J. Blige, Lane Bryant, Jimmy Jazz, our irrelevant competitors, etc.). But she's not only an expert, she's endlessly learning and improving, too, currently taking courses with the world-renowned FIT.

Oh, and I almost forgot to mention (it's tough when her resume is already so long), she's been sewing since the age of five.

This week, on Jimmy Jazz Backstage Ep. 2, Ramon and Deja are going to tell you everything to know about the Air Jordan 6 Retro “Hare” (drops 6/17) and how to style it. Check out the video below:

The Air Jordan 6 Retro “Hare” Drops 6/17

Your Air Jordan 6 Retro “Hare” Style Recap:

When you're building your outfit around your sneakers (as any self-respecting sneakerhead will), the first thing to define is the color of the accents. The main color is important too, but the accents on your sneaker will already complement the shoe's main color (because Jordan wouldn't have included them if they didn't). So that's the best place to start.

So first, let's break down the colors on the Air Jordan 6 Retro “Hare”. We have white on the leather overlay, grey on the underlay, fuchsia and black accents, an orange (Bugs Bunny 's signature carrot) lace lock, and a tiny green top for the carrot.

Now that we've defined what colors (or close approximations) to look for in our shorts and t-shirts, we can get to styling.

Style 1: Jumpman Crewneck Tee + MJ Sticker Fleece Pants

On our Jumpman Crewneck Tee, we can see a pink quartz (close approximation of fuchsia) base that surrounds a black logo. This matches two of our accents, but neither of our main colors. So for the shorts, we'll look to check the rest of the boxes.

On our MJ Sticker Fleece Pants, we have a black body accompanied by orange, green, and white accents on the logo. And if we refer back to our collection of colors on the AJ 6 “Hare”, we've just about checked every single box.

And the best part is, when we look at the outfit in its final form, we don't appear to be, as they say in the industry, to be too “matchy-matchy”.

Style 2: AJ Jumpman Photo Crew Tee + MJ Jumpman Fleece Shorts

On our AJ Jumpman Photo Crew Tee, we have a green base accompanied by light green lettering, orange, black, white, and grey accents on the Jumpman, and a white Nike logo. Once again, we cover almost every single color on our AJ 6 “Hare”, making it a perfect match for the latest Jordan Retro.

With such a colorful shirt, though, we want a little bit of a plainer short, so here, we go with a simple white base to surround an orange logo. Perfect for allowing your sneakers and t-shirt to pop.

To Us, Style Is a Statement

Here at Jimmy Jazz we feel that style, more than anything, is a statement. We're drawn to certain clothing for the same reason we enjoy particular movies, music, or even people. It's because they feel important, even essential, to how we define ourselves. It's the first subject on the brain of a stranger you see on the street; you've got the same sneakers on, and if you had the time to ask, you're pretty sure your playlists, posters, and everything else might match up pretty well, too.

So, this is all to say: we're not here to tell you what to buy, because we can't. You've got your own statement to make, and you know what kind of clothes are going to help you make it. We're just here to help you wear, if you're interested, what you want to wear a little bit better. And who better to help than two of your friendly-neighborhood fashion experts?
