In an inspiring activation, SNIPES brought Crack the Code to the Bronx on December, 7th, 2023. The Crack the Code program has many transformations and initiatives under its belt since its inception. Now bringing its magic to the South Bronx where more than 50% of residents live below the poverty line, the program has its sights set on expanding the youth center in the heart of 3rd Avenue and providing students with a safe and motivating work environment. In collaboration with The Door, operating since 1972 and serving 11k youth throughout NYC. They meet people where they are to cultivate a community of trust. In 2011, the Door opened the Broome Street Academy HS located in Manhattan furthering their education impact. Due to the deep-rooted systemic inequity within our institutions, The Door partnered with Crack the Code aiming to service the NYC youth daily through Career readiness, SAT/college prep, STEM programs, ESL services, etc. Their expansion into a 4-floor facility will help them reach their goals as well as a greater number of youth in the area.
The Programming will be in collaboration with the Hispanic Federation’s (HF) digital equity program. The Door now services up to 500 youth throughout NYC per year, and the HF works with local grassroots community-based organizations as a bridge connecting our communities to digital and educational opportunities. The lab will serve youth ages 16-24 with STEM education programs, job training & development services, and tutoring services. They will have the opportunity to gain Google Career Certifications, which provide job seekers with access to in-demand skills without a college degree or prior experience in the fields of data analytics, IT support, project management, or user experience.
