As you approached the gate on May 20th, prepare to be embraced by a warm and inviting atmosphere, where you’ll find a delightful array of snacks, refreshing drinks, and even a charming Photo Booth to capture memorable moments. As you venture further, just to the west of the entrance, your eyes will be drawn to the captivating Mann performance stage adorned with vibrant HBCU festival decorations. Surrounding the background, you’ll witness an enthusiastic crowd eagerly anticipating stunning performances, such as the exhilarating drum line display, the uplifting Howard Gospel Line, or other fantastic acts as time progresses. And when it’s time to take a breather, as the day winds down, you’ll step out through the back, where a tempting assortment of food vendors and food trucks await. If your appetite isn’t calling, you can explore the serene Picnic Grove, otherwise known as Snipes Territory, providing a tranquil retreat amidst the festivities.
Take a leisurely stroll and grab a SNIPES towel to clean off your sunglasses on an inevitable spring shower evening. As you wander, you’ll witness a captivating sight—people of all ages eagerly strapping themselves into harnesses, embarking on an adventure to strike gold (or, even better, a SNIPES swag bag). Once they’ve secured their treasures, they can venture to the lively SNIPES tent, where a treasure trove of additional goodies awaits. Test your luck and tactile skills for a gift card by participating in the thrilling “Guess the Sneaker,” where you’ll rely on your sense of touch to identify iconic Jordan pairs like the 1s, 2s, and 14s. Amidst the laughter and excitement, you’ll truly feel the unmistakable sense of comfort and community as individuals joyfully engage in friendly banter, hyping themselves up while showcasing their impressive knowledge of sneakers.
