Take a stroll down West 125th Street in Harlem, also known as Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, and you will find yourself stumbling upon the newest SNIPES 2.0 store. This street is home to the world-famous Apollo Theater which helped launch the careers of famous artists such as Aretha Franklin and Stevie Wonder. In the late 90s, the neighborhood became overwhelmed with new development, but the community worked together to keep the history of the street alive. Harlem is deeply loved for its jazz music, soul food restaurants, and vibrancy. For decades, customers shopped at this iconic two-story flagship store, formerly known as Jimmy Jazz. Jimmy Jazz has been a pillar in the culture, and is well known as a premier sneaker and urban streetwear apparel chain. SNIPES plans to carry on the legacy.
Black Friday was a true celebration for SNIPES as we opened our new location in Harlem and hosted its grand opening. The day was packed with giveaways but stars Dave East and A Boogie wit da Hoodie stole the show. Thirty students from New York got the opportunity to arrive at the store before all the festivities kicked off and shop the latest styles. Families got to take photos in the SNIPES photo booth, grab freshly made cotton candy, write letters to Santa, and listen to New York’s premier DJ from hot97. We aren’t done yet! Check back to learn more about our plans and maybe you’ll catch the next grand opening.
