We strongly believe in appreciating the culture and community that drives the sneaker and streetwear industry. Last month, we were fortunate enough to work with Robert “Bobbito” Garcia, a well-known figure also known as DJ Cucumber Slice and Kool Bob Love, in creating an unforgettable basketball experience.
Who is Bobbito Garcia?
For those who might not know, New York City native Bobbito Garcia is a name linked to hip-hop culture, basketball, and creative expression. Many people can recall him from the joint hosting role on The Stretch Armstrong and Bobbito Show – this famous radio program aired from 1990 until 1999, introducing numerous significant figures within the hip-hop scene to the public eye. Currently, he continues to create an impact as the host of the NPR podcast What’s Good? with his long-time partner-in-crime Stretch Armstrong.
Bobbito’s impact goes beyond basketball. He has been part of the announcer in a popular video game, NBA Street Vol. 2, and he is an active representative of the Rock Steady Crew. But this summer, he turned his creative energy towards something special: FC 21.
The FC 21 Experience
FC (Full-Court) 21 is not like other basketball tournaments. It is the first and only 1-on-5 competition in basketball where players go against many defenders at a time. There are no teams, only one fighter on each side. No teammates. Just you against the world.
We started our events in Boston on July 13th and held a second event later in Queens on July 16th. The atmosphere was lively with many from different backgrounds gathered together to demonstrate their abilities within this unique game style.
Bobbito had a vision to create this tournament that could unite people through their interest in basketball, and that’s exactly what it did.
We are happy to have collaborated with Bobbito on this event, and we look forward to witnessing the ongoing development and progress of FC 21 in the future.
