Our mission with SNIPES SERVES is just that: to uplift the community and demonstrate our commitment to engagement and support.
On November 19th, in partnership with both Dion’s Chicago Dream and Men of Purpose, SNIPES held an event for our Chicago Carver Park District family – where food, clothing and gift cards were handed out all in the spirit of giving and spreading love. Thanks to Dion’s Chicago Dream – an impactful organization that provides high-quality fruits and vegetables to families each week – we were able to give away 100 boxes of fresh produce and non-perishable goods to those who needed a little something extra during this holiday season. To further spread kindness and joy, our paramount partner Men of Purpose came to help empower and inspire men of the community.
Men of Purpose – one of our favorite community engagers – is a mentoring program with a mission statement designed to empower men from vast backgrounds. Through establishing or reestablishing long-lasting career paths, educational commitment and drive as well as cultivating strong and impactful leadership skills, Men of Purpose strives to create sustainable and healthy lifestyles and maintain an increased sense of self-worth. Our other partner, Dion’s Chicago Dream, pledges themselves to combating food deserts in Chicago. By delivering boxes of pre-measured (a sustainable practice as well), fresh fruits and vegetables, Dion’s Chicago Dream can provide quality and accessible food to more than 65,000 families over the past two years of their fruition. Dion’s commitment extends further from that of delivery and drop off – and they gone so far as to include their “Dream Fridge” initiative, a fridge open five days a week, which houses more fresh produce and water for local members of the community in need!
Another activation for our SNIPES SERVES community engagement took place on November 20th, in none other than the Bronx, New York. Similarly, as in Chicago, this event was partnered with the Holmes Experience, to create a holiday drive to support families in need. As members of the community gathered at P.S. 18, turkey, homemade hot food, gift cards, clothing and hygiene kits were handed out to residents of the South Bronx. Overall, the successful day was filled with love, gratitude and empowerment – a perfect way to kick off this holiday season.
The organization Men of Purpose – of which we are proud to be partnered with – was founded by a local Assistant Principal in the Bronx, with the purpose of supporting children both in and out of the classroom. By ensuring both educational and emotional welfare and care, Men of Purpose work to build up the whole of the student – driving them and helping them to be their best selves, regardless of where they are.
