The holidays never slow us down at SNIPES, especially when it comes to community participation and givebacks. This year, in partnership with the New York Liberty and the Bowery Mission, we were able to host a “We Out Here” event to donate 400 coats and 1,200 pairs of socks to those in need of a little extra warmth this season!
A team we have worked with before – the New York Liberty (a WNBA team) – has just recently launched their “Season of Giving” initiative. Here, the team and their eight participating partners have pledged themselves to the act of giving back. This activation is aligned with Liberty’s four pillars of social responsibility: continuing growth within youth basketball, embracing and empowering young women and girls, championing unity and promoting pride (“BEUP”). By providing gifts to members of the community, the NY Liberty helps to show a little extra love during this festive season.
Our other partner for this event was none other than New York’s own Bowery Mission, a historical organization that has been serving New Yorkers for the past 151 years. Founded by Jerry and Maria McAuley in 1872, the organization first set out as a helping hand for anyone in need, while providing safety and security during times of recovery. Over the course of its time with the community, Bowery Mission has served millions of people – let alone within the last year, with 258,000 meals served, 56,000 nights of shelter provided, 42,000 emergency showers given and 21,000 articles of clothing donated. Due to their commitment to providing accessible resources and support, the Bowery Mission has proved themselves to be a foundational rock in the community.
